David Babcock

Chief Executive Officer

Meet David

David Babcock is Chief Executive Office at PrincipioGS who brings over 25 years of experience as a healthcare and business executive in successfully achieving profitable growth and sustainable development for a range of healthcare organizations and private practices.

Based on a growing trend observed through his work, Mr. Babcock founded The Ambio Group in 1999 with the purpose of meeting the inter-connected needs of both healthcare organizations and physicians. Over the last 13 years, The Ambio Group has built a solid track record of successfully strengthening relationships between institutions and providers, as well as working with each to identify new approaches that create organizational efficiencies and meet marketplace demands. Clients include academic teaching hospitals, individual community-based hospitals and large multihospital health systems, such as Advocate Health Care, the largest hospital system in Chicago-land. The Ambio Group also advises physicians on all aspects of private practice operations with knowledge of medical specialties spanning from primary care to sub-specialty to surgical to integrative physician practices.

Among other entrepreneurial business ventures, Mr. Babcock has developed numerous healthcare-focused businesses, and led the creation of one of the first physician/hospital MSO cooperatives and the first PHO in the western suburbs of Chicago.

David received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, Business and Hospital Administration at Andrews University.

Maritza Rivera-Babcock

Chief Operating Officer

Meet Maritza

Maritza Rivera-Babcock has worked in the healthcare industry for over 30 years, gaining experience in both inpatient and ambulatory operations. As a seasoned healthcare executive and transformational leader, Maritza has a passion for process improvement which can be traced back to Hialeah Hospital where she established quality circles. This interest would later lead to a role as a certified Six-Sigma Black Belt and Change Acceleration Leader with the General Electric Company.

Driven by the need to mentor and grow diverse leaders, Maritza takes pride in having been provided the opportunity to conduct diversity/inclusiveness training for GE in six countries and leading the planning committee for GE’s annual National Hispanic Leadership Forum. Maritza was recognized with numerous awards during her time with the General Electric Company.

Maritza has also worked with physicians in the creation of a Hispanic physician organization, in joint venture partnerships and as a marketing and development leader to expand the referral footprint of a long term residential treatment facility for children, adolescents and adults. Maritza has consulted with academic medical centers and community hospital systems on the recruitment and retention of their executive talent.

Maritza recently served as the interim chief operating officer for Presence Medical Group, a physician enterprise employing over 400 physicians in 90 practice locations. The Presence Health system was purchased by Ascension Health and subsequently transitioned to Amita Health Medical Group. Maritza was part of the leadership team that worked to transition processes and people into the new leadership structure.

Maritza received her Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and a Master in Business Administration from the Kellstadt School of Business at DePaul University in Chicago. A frequent volunteer on community boards, she is the past chair of the Advocate Bethany Hospital Governing Council.

When not in the office, Maritza enjoys world-wide travel, music and theater.

 

Joel Rivas

Chief Financial Officer

Meet Joel

Joel is an executive with over 26 year of experience in corporate finance and operations with companies ranging from start-ups to fortune 100.

Joel has an established record of success in significant, profitable, growth environments by managing organic growth combined with extensive, disciplined, merger and acquisition activities. Most recently, Joel served as Chief Financial Officer at BCI Communications, A division of Unitek Global, a US public company providing engineering, construction management and installation fulfillment services to companies specializing in the telecommunications, broadband cable and satellite industries. Previously as Executive Vice President and Treasurer at 180 Connect, a US public company serving the telecommunications and television fulfillment industry, Joel was successful in helping drive growth from start up to a company with revenues of $380 million while also listing the company in both Canadian and US stock exchanges. In addition to that, He has served in several senior leadership roles for other companies including The Box Music Network, a division of MTV and currently serves on the board of a medical technology company.

Joel has been successful in several corporate turnarounds and has extensive experience in business integration, SEC reporting, insurance and risk management as well as significant experience working for international, public companies with multiple subsidiaries and numerous operating units.

 

 

Jason Joseph

Chief STRATEGY Officer

Meet Jason

Jason brings more than a decade of experience in business and nonprofit consulting, marketing, and political campaigns, which he now deploys as Chief Strategy Officer at Principio Global Solutions (PGS).

Prior to being a founding partner of PGS, Jason served as Senior Vice President at SP Consulting, an international business consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for driving new business while leading client services efforts across seven regional Centers of Excellence in the United States. Specific areas of expertise include international development, healthcare, and higher education.

Internationally, Jason worked to develop strategic partnerships to further economic development projects. Jason worked with the Republic of Georgia, targeting key business and policy stakeholders in New York City and Washington, D.C. in order to further economic development and partnership. Jason has also worked extensively in South Asia on agriculture programs, such as gauging nutritional, social, and environmental consequences of green biotechnology, as well as leveraging best practices in GM crops in conjunction with key agriculture universities in India.

In healthcare, Jason has led both partnership and business strategy engagements, such as working to develop membership and revenue enhancement strategies for healthcare trade and membership associations, workforce training programs for national health systems, marketing and communications assessments, and market penetration strategies for a wide array of healthcare-focused businesses.

In education, Jason led a multi-million dollar rebranding effort for a major land-grant university; was part of a team that helped to identify more than $40 million in federal research funding to develop a new research institution; and has worked to elevate visibility and partnership opportunities for universities with both the public and private sectors in the US and abroad.

Jason brings political experience as a former operative for the Republican National Committee. He served as the regional director based out of Northeast Iowa during the 2012 Presidential election, overseeing all national and local races for that state, with a focus on Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.

Jason’s wide range of industry experience allows him to effectively communicate with every level of a project team/organization from end-users to executive sponsors. His ability to understand technical vision and communicate it to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple organizational levels has been an integral part of his success.

Jason received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Globalization Studies from Gettysburg College. He currently resides in the Washington, DC metro area. 

Dr. Jay Robinson

Senior Executive Advisor

Meet Jay

James “Jay” Leon Robinson III, PsyD has 25 years of experience as a leader in hospital administration and clinical operations. Trained as a clinical psychologist, Jay places an extreme focus on driving associate engagement as he believes that this is the key to unlocking clinical excellence, patient safety and financial results.

He most recently served as the President of Saint Joseph Hospital – Chicago, a 321-bed community teaching hospital. During his tenure, the facility achieved Leapfrog A, CMS 4 star and CMS 5-star for the skilled nursing unit. His focus on expense management resulted in $8.5M in savings and improvements in EBIDTA.

Prior to joining Saint Joseph, Jay was Senior Vice President/CEO at Methodist South Hospital, a 145-bed community hospital in Memphis, Tenn., that is part of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare System. During his tenure there, Jay improved associate satisfaction to the 98th percentile, improved patient satisfaction by 9 percent, and decreased the readmission rate by 12 percent. He also initiated a hospitalist program and a dyad model to improve clinical performance.

Other previous roles include serving as CEO/Medical Center Director at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Memphis, TN; CEO/Medical Center Director at Carl Vinson Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Dublin, GA; and Chief, Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, at Salisbury Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Salisbury, NC.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., and a Doctor of Psychology at Virginia Consortium for Professional Psychology in Norfolk, Va. He is currently working on his MBA at Concordia University Chicago.

Jay is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and National Association of Health Care Service Executives. He is a board member for the March of Dimes, American Heart Association and Reach Memphis. Jay was recognized in 2018 as one of the 100 great leaders in healthcare by Becker’s Healthcare.

Jay is a golfer. He and his wife Kia have four children.
